Four major markets are being targeted for introduction and sale of the engines in the first five years of production:
In the North American aircraft industry there are over 700 home-built and ultralight aircraft models that use engines in the size and configuration of the ‘rotary combustion’ engine. The new “Light Sport Aircraft” area is growing exponentially. There is a potential for thousands of the engines in the new Light Sport Aircraft category. Since the category was established in April 2005, approximately 1500 new LSA aircraft, from 35 manufacturers have been sold. The anticipated volume for the next 2 years is about 6,000 new aircraft. Several of our rotary engines are perfect matches for this category.
Sales in the marine industry are governed by power and performance, which accounts for the predominance of the two-stroke engine. The new rotary combustion engines give both high power and excellent performance. Once the new emissions legislation outlawing 2-stroke engines comes into effect, the replacement market will be vast. There is a proliferation of boats, personal watercraft and other recreational vehicles, in the hundreds of thousands, using engines of similar size.
One of the main categories in the recreational vehicle areas is Race Karts and all-terrain vehicles. The Kart industry alone has the potential, in the North American market, to reach 15,000 in new sales per year, plus the replacement engine market would double that figure. Add to that several thousand engines for new and replacement engines in ATV’s, motorcycles, motor scooters, etc., and the market potential is tremendous.
Rotary Combustion engines can be used on co-generation units, which by burning abundant and inexpensive fuels can provide heat and electricity, in homes or businesses, at lower costs than the utility companies. In time, co-generation and power generators alone could create a demand for tens of thousands of small ‘rotary combustion’ engines throughout the world. Natural gas can be used directly or liquefied and made readily available through pipelines and portable tanks. The supply of natural gas is projected to last for a thousand years. Eventually fuels such as ethanol and other ‘bio-fuels’ can extend the fuel supply indefinitely.
The hybrid automobile is rapidly becoming a common design in the marketplace: more efficient than many of the small engines in current use. The ‘rotary combustion’ engine will make the hybrid automobile engine a practical reality. A small, rugged model of the engine is designed to produce from 20 to 65 hp and run for thousands of hours without maintenance. This engine can drive a generator and provide the charge for a few modern storage batteries.
